Carbon Trading Increases in 2009 |

• 61 per cent rise in trading in global carbon markets during 2008 • Further expansion to come with cap & trade schemes planned in US & other countries • 99 per cent of EU ETS futures and options exchange trading in first half of 2009 on London-based ECX • UK is a leading investor in the Clean Development Mechanism
Trading in the rapidly expanding global carbon markets jumped 61 per cent in 2008, with the volume of carbon dioxide emissions transacted worldwide rising from 2.98 billion tonnes of CO2 to 4.81 billion tonnes.
Many Carbon reduction schemes will also qualify for the UK R&D Tax Relief scheme by dint of their innovative advances in science and technology. |
